E-Learning In The Future: What Role Will It Play?

“Technology can become the wings that will allow the educational world to fly farther and faster than ever before- if we allow it.” Jenny Arledge

Why do you think that the writer has said, “If we allow it” at the end of the quote? It is because there are still challenges out there that are not letting technology take over the E-Learning education world. When students take help in the form of a Ph.D. Dissertation Proofreading Services or other such academic assistance, then it is said that it is unethical. Some say that technology will become our master because of the speed with which it is progressing. Similarly; there are many other such hindrances that are stopping the world to let technology become the wings of the educational world.

As the world progresses through technology, education is no exception (eazyresearchwp, 2021).  Technology has managed to seep into the world of education quite smoothly over the last few years. Students as well as teachers have been taking help from various technical inventions. On one hand; where students are buying “Make My Dissertation Services” similarly, on another hand; teachers are taking classes to improve their teaching methods. All these forms of technology being used for the promotion of education are categorized as E-learning.

What is E-learning?

E-learning is an acronym for electronic learning. It is the learning system that is based on the functioning of electronic medium or more specifically digital resources. The foundation of this learning system is the pillars of computer-based devices and the internet. In simple words- E-learning can be defined as the learner having control over where, when, and what she/he learns. It has a strong instructional design that focuses on dedicated learning objectives.

“We need to bring learning to people instead of people to learning.” Elliot Masie

This goal can only be achieved through the process of electronic learning. E-learning ignites two main areas; learning and technology. Learning is a cognitive process for achieving knowledge and technology is the enabler of the learning process (Aparicio et al, 2016). So; both things go side-by-side in today’s time.

Types of E-learning:

Even though; E-learning can be divided into multiple categories but the two primary types of E-learning are as follows;

  • Computer-based learning.
  • Web-based learning.

This division is more accurate as it differentiates E-learning from online learning. However; there are some forms of E-learning where both computer-based technology as well as the internet are required for the smooth functioning of E-learning. So; on a general level; e-learning can be divided into the following types;

  • Computer-managed learning.
  • Computer-assisted instruction.
  • Synchronous online learning.
  • Asynchronous online learning.
  • Fixed e-learning.
  • Adaptive e-learning.
  • Linear e-learning.
  • Interactive online learning.
  • Individual online learning.
  • Collaborative online learning.

The role of E-learning in present:

E-learning is not a thing of the future anymore rather it is the present and students are using it very much in their daily lives. Some of the roles that E-learning is already playing for the betterment of the education sector are as follows;

  • Students can take education from anywhere in the world at any time.
  • It is because of e-learning that the programs and courses can be done at a much faster pace.
  • People have more course selection choices; thanks to the introduction of e-learning.
  • It has opened new ways of communication and the creation of new ideas.
  • It allows the students to improve their skills and increase their knowledge.

The role of E-learning in the future:

Even though; E-learning has already marked its place in the education sector still, there is a long way to go. The following are some of the functions or roles that E-learning is expected to provide in the near future:

· Individual learning method:

This method has already been introduced to the students but still, even more, reforms are being brought to it. In this method; students are allowed to learn at their own pace and with interests. Advanced algorithms, artificial intelligence, and machine learning is introducing new ways of being able to learn according to your own interest.

· Adaptive learning method:

It is the method by which material, activities teaching methods, and the project will be adapted according to the specific needs of the students. This method will be implemented by the standardized assessment of the students and the apps are already being introduced.

· Mobile education method:

Even though; mobile has already become a means of many things. Along with communication purposes, mobile has become a source for online shopping, used for entertainment purposes, and so on. Another feature that is yet to be added to mobile is students being able to learn through phone-based language learning programs.

· Gamification:

Such games are being produced that incorporate different modes of learning the mind of the people. Education is not given in its usual way but through games. Such challenging and interactive components will be added that will attract the people towards the learning concepts. Many of these components will be used in the future to promote learning among students and to build their interest in their respective courses.

· Virtual technology learning method:

Virtual technology has already been introduced to people in the form of movies but soon it is expected to enter the education zone as well. Google Glass or virtual technology will be made so accessible that students will be able to put themselves in the shoes of the astronaut, discoverer, businessman, historical figures, and so on. They will be able to experience a profession through this technology and choose the profession according to their interest.

Conclusion:

Technology has added its magic to every field of life including the education sector. E-learning is one of the most prominent examples of technology usage in education. Even though; it is already being utilized still there is a long way for it to go. Hopefully; the above-mentioned post will help the readers in understanding all about e-learning and the role that it is expected to play in the near future.
