Videos with the yellow icon are still eligible to be paid for with YouTube Premium, but they will only have a few or no ads because they have been flagged as either not suitable for all advertisers or completely demonetized because YouTube determines they do not adhere to the Advertiser-friendly content guidelines.
Regarding monetization and advertiser-friendly content, YouTube has been making constant modifications to their standards. Owing to the large number of videos that are published to YouTube every day, it has to use a variety of automated and manual techniques to assess videos. Normally, an automated process—which isn’t perfect but is still being improved upon—is used to check the movies first. Yet, it’s likely that these reviews are occasionally inaccurate. For the purpose of accurately classifying a video, they are not as accurate as they could be. The sinister cousin of the nice green dollar marks that graciously monetized content on YouTube is the yellow dollar symbol.
These show that your video has been marked as potentially offensive by Google’s algorithms. No adverts will appear on your video and it won’t generate any money as long as it contains a yellow dollar sign rather than a green one.
Any channel with 10,000+ views could previously enable monetization and generate revenue from adverts. To get 10K+ views with the help of Weebly. Regrettably, this resulted in widespread YouTube platform abuse. Content that was at best schlocky and useless and at worst outright abusive began to be uploaded by creators.
When a well-known station published a video in 2018 depicting a dead body in a Japanese forest, things reached a boiling point. Advertisers have a legitimate reason to wonder why their advertising were displayed next to such garbage. And then a major exodus from the platform began, which producers refer to as the Adpocalypse.
When videos were reported by YouTube’s AI, there wasn’t much you could do about it at first. Yet in response to complaints from producers, YouTube acted and engaged a large number of human reviewers to examine flagged films more closely.
There is now a straightforward process you may use if your video is flagged and you believe it was mistaken.
Go to Monetization after opening the video in Maker Studio. You’ll be able to see why your video was marked .Usually, this is something ambiguous, like “inappropriate content.”
Then select Request Review. Your film will be sent to a human reviewer who will view it and correct the AI’s judgement if necessary. Normally, this procedure takes two to three days.
The monetization feature will be turned back on and your orange dollar sign will turn a benevolent shade of green if your video was in fact fine.
Because it has been determined that your video is not ad friendly, the yellow dollar sign indicates that it is not showing advertisements. By clicking on the dollar sign in this scenario, you can also make changes. You will be directed to the Information and Settings page if you do this. You will see the following notification under the “Monetization” tab:
Due to the possibility that the content in your video is inappropriate for advertising, it is not being made money.
Your video’s metadata, thumbnail, and content all need to be advertiser-friendly in order for it to be profitable.
Think your video satisfies this requirement? It can be reevaluated for monetization. One thing you almost never forget to do when submitting videos to YouTube is to turn on the monetization. However, not all videos are consistently monetized because issues inevitably develop between uploads. It is simpler to correct an error when a monetization issue emerges as soon as you post, but occasionally issues take days or months to manifest. It is therefore more difficult to fix a video that frequently already has a lot of views.
The dollar sign changes from green to another colour when these unavoidable issues occur. Orange or grey. And we’ll briefly explain what each hue symbolises in this piece.

the following box: See my video one again. That is, in my opinion, advertiser-friendly. Click Save Changes to finish. Your video will be reviewed after submission.
Also, the recent “adpocalypse” caused by inappropriate adverts being displayed alongside objectionable content deprives legitimate providers of income. YouTube has since announced that it would provide new indicators to show you how heavily your video is being monetized. Also, it will give you a new method for directly appealing copyright and community guidelines issues in the Video Manager.
During the coming weeks, three new icons (shown below) will be added to the Creator Studio to help creators understand how their videos are monetized. The first one denotes what it says: “$1 in a green circle.”The first signifies that you are making money from both YouTube Red and “the broadest group of advertisers” (a dollar sign in a green circle).
However, a video can only make money through YouTube Red or a specific selection of advertisements if it has been flagged as “not acceptable for all advertisers” by the dollar sign in a yellow circle. Confusionally, YouTube claims that it might also mean that it has been completely demonetized because “it doesn’t match our advertising criteria”.
Finally, a dollar sign with a cross through it indicates that videos will not be supported by YouTube Red or advertising.
